New Beginnings

Spring is usually a time where we are surrounded by messages about change, new beginnings, or starting over. Winter has passed, the days are now longer… and warmer. There is an expectation to throw out what no longer serves us, to throw off whatever might be weighing us down.

It can be difficult when what we see on the outside does not match what we feel on the inside. You might be hearing messages about change… but you’re not ready to change. You might feel a change in the season and expect an immediate change in yourself.

The first step towards change is that exact feeling of discomfort - knowing you want something for yourself and not yet seeing it in yourself. Clients that come to therapy are not always ready for change - rarely are they ready for action in that first session.

Often, the first session is full of discouragement. Recounting the countless moments of failure, disappointment, and regret. However, overtime, that same client will begin to see that change is inevitable for them as well. All you need is the right environment.
