Safe Spaces

In this day and age, many people are aware of the term “safe space.” We use it often in our daily language.

We want our jobs to be a.. safe space.

We want our relationships to be a.. safe space.

We want our homes to be a.. safe space.

And the list goes on. Safety has become one of the principle goals of the modern world. This may be because we have felt taken advantage of, criticized, and afraid in so many of the spaces we take up.

One area that we have to include, that is not usually a part of the conversation, is whether or not our own mind and bodies are a safe space. Can you go within yourself and find rest? Can you listen to your own thoughts and feel at peace? If the answer is no, then no matter what the other spaces are like, they will never truly feel safe. There may be a lot of reasons as to why you can’t say there is safety in your own self.

Maybe you have severe anxiety, PTSD.. maybe you speak to yourself in harsh tones and with cutting words. No matter the reason, you deserve to have safety in your own body, mind, and spirit. It can start with simply acknowledging the fact that you do not feel safe within your own self.

If you have been seeking out safe spaces for a long time and have not found it, it probably means you’re carrying the most unsafe space with you. That can change, let us work with you to recreating a safe body, mind, and spirit.
